Rotator Cuff Repair
When a shoulder injury results in a complete rotator cuff tear and other methods to relieve the pain, discomfort or disability associated with it have failed to provide relief, surgery to repair it may be in order. Rotator cuff surgery involves re-attachment of the tendon to its correct spot on the top part of the arm bone, called the humerus. Recovery after this procedure can take approximately six weeks when the arm will be in a soft sling to protect the shoulder. Pain management, as well as physical therapy, are integral parts of the recovery process for rotator cuff surgery – to regain strength and range of motion in the affected shoulder. If you or a loved one is facing the effects of a torn rotator cuff, the expert orthopedic team at Riverside University Physicians is here to help with specially trained doctors and staff who are skilled and experienced in surgically treating a wide range of shoulder injury types.
