There are a variety of common shoulder conditions that may not respond well to conservative treatments like medication or physical therapy. In these cases, surgery may be the right next step to relieve pain, increase strength or restore range-of-motion in the affected shoulder. Some shoulder repair surgeries are minimally-invasive and arthroscopic, in which a small camera is inserted through tiny incisions in the shoulder for the surgeon to view the problem and possibly fix it, all in one procedure. Other shoulder repair surgeries are considered “open” using traditional methods of larger incisions and sutures. The type of surgery recommended will depends on the extent of the shoulder injury. The expert orthopedic team at Riverside University Physicians is highly trained and skilled in a variety of shoulder repair procedures, and we are proud to offer these treatment options to our community.
